Meet Tanya

Tanya is passionate about working with children and is a registered Play Therapist with a Masters in Child Play Therapy from Deakin University and an Honours degree in Early Childhood Studies from The University of Melbourne. Tanya has more than 25 years of experience in early childhood, which she applies to her practice.

 

She has worked as a kindergarten teacher, helped parents improve their parenting skills, and collaborated with families to develop NDIS plans as an Early Childhood Early Intervention Practitioner. Tanya’s play therapy approach is underpinned by theories of child development, trauma and attachment theory.

 

Tanya values working collaboratively with families and other systems that surround the child, empowering adults within the child’s life, by supporting them to better understand their child’s needs and foster greater connection. With a background in early years education, Tanya has experience in working with children presenting with developmental and complex trauma, attachment disruption, anxiety, bereavement, family life disruption/adjustments and family dynamics together with neurodevelopmental disorders such as ASD, ADHD and learning disabilities.

 

Tanya is a Registered Play Therapist with Australasian Pacific Play Therapy Association (APPTA) and is trained in Humanistic Play therapy, Learn to Play therapy and Filial Family therapy
